Horse Area

Access to the horse area begins with the ramp. These are constructed from a steel box section framework with a wooden overlay and covered with convulated rubber which has hardwood grip treads. The external is then trimmed with aluminium to finish off its appearance.
The ramp is spring-assisted as standard which has been developed using our own C.A.D. program which ensures ease of use. All of our ramps are checked for the force required to both raise and lower prior to collection by the customer to ensure it falls within our strict criteria.

Whichever of our boxes you choose, you can be assured of capability in the horse area to entertain every type of horse. All our boxes are built full height and width to allow the carriage of the largest of horse as well as ensuring good re-sale value. The internal fixtures can then be tailored to suit your specific requirements with differing types of partitions and ancillaires to suit your needs.

We believe that the quality of build can be definitively ascertained by the effort and attention to detail in the horse area with regard to safety and strength, after all it is of course the primary function of the horsebox to travel horses safely to their destination. This is why at THORPE HORSEBOXES all our new horseboxes have been designed with safety and strength at their very core. This includes the

* High strength floor- tested to destruction for us by the manufacturers to provide reassurance to us that it far exceeds our requirements from it

* Tubular high grade galvanised partitions and rails - with strength an inherent part of their design they provide the horses with safety with no sharp edges as well as ease of maintenance for the user.

* Dividing wall - At the front of the horses the divider wall between living and horse areas must of course be capable of supporting the first horse when the vehicle is braking and it is for this reason we specify that this wall is built with a steel framework with is tied to the structure of the body giving peace of mind to the driver.

The walls have kickboards fitted in the lower half which are lined with energy absorbing rubber and are sealed to allow quick and easy cleaning. The top half of the walls have an easy wipe-down white coating completing the low maintenance finish of the horse area.

Extra items can be fitted to the horse area to tailor it to your needs and include CCTV, extra roof ventilators, foal partitions or half height partitions with rubber skirts allowing total customisation to your needs.
