When looking to purchase your new horsebox, an obvious place to begin is the chassis as this will be the starting point for the build. The chassis choice is dependent upon a variety of factors not least of all is personal choice of the customer. At THORPE HORSEBOXES we are not fixed on our chassis preference for your box, we merely offer help and advice on the advantages and disadvantages of each type. As well as determining the make of chassis we also need to be aware of the wheelbase we require to suit your body to not only comply with all regulations but to also gain optimum use of axle weights and so as to achieve the best payload for the horsebox.

Once we have decided on make, model, age and wheelbase, we can begin to source your chassis, which on the whole will be previously owned as these offer good value for money based on their intended use. Specific chassis selection is a process which must be carried out very carefully and this is why we carry out a full inspection of the donor chassis prior to our purchase ensuring we notice any signs of excessive overuse or poor treatment that could cause problems at a later stage, rejecting any chassis that gives cause for concern.

Following purchase, the chassis is put through our own workshops for a full service and pre-MOT inspection when any faults are rectified before it moves into the production facility. Prior to sale, it is presented for MOT so that the customer receives a full year's MOT along with a comprehensive warranty package on both the chassis and the new body.

Chassis selection can of course be carried out by yourself and we will willingly build onto your chassis following checks to ensure it's suitability for the application.
